Pre-Prep Visit to Ampleforth Abbey
Father John took years 1 and 2 to Ampleforth Abbey. Father John showed the children where he and the Abbot sit in the Monk's Quire and that the newest monks sit on the front row.
Father John took the children into the Mary Chapel where they looked at the stained glass, identifying St. Peter from our visit to York Minster. The children then went in to the Remembrance Chapel and saw the empty cross and Mary holding Jesus. The Remembrance Chapel also houses the book of names of those Amplefordians who had died in the World Wars.
Father Chad joined the group and taught everyone actions to the Lord's Prayer.
